Andrea grew up in Powder Springs, Georgia and graduated from Mercer University with a degree in Exceptional Education. She also has a Master’s degree from Kennesaw State University in Educational Leadership. Andrea has been teaching for the last 15 years in elementary and middle schools, and beginning in 2007, she served as her middle school’s graduation coach, working with at-risk students and their families.
Throughout many years of volunteering, leading, and serving at a local church, her dream has been to go into the ministry full time. Investing relationally in others is a passion of hers, and she is excited and blessed to partner with Sanctuary in leading and challenging children and families to live and love like Jesus. As Paul states in Ephesians, we are to be imitators of God and to live a life of love just as He loves us.
When not at work, Andrea enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, running, and spending time with friends, family, and her dog Tess.
Sonny has lived in Atlanta his entire life and grew up with wonderful parents and the best sister anyone could ask for. His family always loved music and at the age of five Sonny started to play guitar. He’s been playing ever since!
Sonny says, “One thing that was very important to my family was attending church. The only time that I remember not attending was when I was a senior at Tucker High School. After graduating, I came to the understanding that I needed Jesus to be everything in my life. I needed Him to be the LORD of my life. When that happened, my life totally changed!”
Not long after that, Sonny started to travel with one of the first contemporary Christian groups called Dove. Following his time with Dove, Sonny was part of the Pat Terry Group. As Sonny says, “It was an incredible time in the ‘Jesus Movement’!”
Since then, he’s been involved in the recording industry doing all kinds of music for many artists, companies, and ministries. He’s had the honor of serving on staff at three Atlanta-area churches. He says he’s “honored to serve here at Sanctuary as I continue to learn what it means to worship Jesus in spirit and truth.”
Sonny’s married to Becky, over whom he’s “still crazy after all these years!” They have a daughter named Bethany, and she has a son named Christian. They also have a son named Andrew who is married to Shandi, and who has a daughter Savannah. Sonny says “Becky and I love our children and grandchildren. We are so thankful for their love and life in Jesus.”
Troy grew up in Marietta, GA and graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, AL. During his junior year, Troy stepped into a thriving youth ministry at Mountain Brook Community Church and served the students for 8 years before God called them to Acworth, GA. Troy met his wife Janice through an awkward introduction by his mother, and they got married in 2010. They have been married for 6 years and have two beautiful daughters, Taylor and Allie Grace. Together, Troy and Janice have been investing in the lives of students for 13 years.
Troy’s calling and passion is to see students recognize who Jesus is, understand what He has done and then step into their role of response. Troy believes that students have a beautiful field in front of them that is ready to be harvested and is excited to join with Sanctuary Church to see students make disciples.
