By January 22, 2023January 23rd, 2023Voice of God

This sermon series is entitled the Voice of God. In this study we’ll be examining different ways in which God speaks to His world. Before beginning this study, pause and listen for His voice to guide you as you move through this sacred space in His Word.

Read Genesis Psalm 19 incarnationally.

1. What does this text say about God’s character?

2. What does it tell you of the nature of God?

3. How do you see God’s love prevailing?

4. How does the text speak most personally to you?

Read Psalm 19.1-6 and answer the following questions:

5. In your own words define “the glory of God” (verse 1).

6. How do you embrace God’s glory in your ordinary everyday life?

7. What is God speaking to you through Creation?

Read Psalm 19.7-9 and answer the following questions:

8. In describing Scripture David uses words like, “perfect”, “trustworthy”, and “pure.” What words do you use to describe Scripture?

9. David says Scripture, “gives joy to the heart, light to the eyes.” What does Scripture give you?

10. In what ways are you living into Scripture?

Read and reflect on the comments of Eugene Peterson.

“Christians don’t simply learn or study or use Scripture; we assimilate it, take it into our lives in such a way that it gets metabolized into acts of love, cups of cold water, missions into all the world, healing and evangelism and justice in Jesus’ name, hands raised in adoration of the Father, feet washed in company with the Son.”

11. How are you assimilating Scripture?

12. In the last week how has Scripture been metabolized into acts of love?

13. In your own words describe Jesus’ relationship to Scripture?

14 How does His view of Scripture encourage you?

Read Psalm 19.10-11 and answer the following questions:

15. How highly do you value Scripture?

16. What is it’s worth to you?

17. How does your value of Scripture translate to you fully being led and loved by Scripture?

18. How does Scripture translate into you leading and loving others in the way Scripture calls for Jesus people to love others?

Read Psalm 19.12-13 and answer the following questions:

19. How does the Spirit speak to you?

20. How do you see grace at work in the Spirit’s voice speaking to your soul?

Read Psalm 19.14, allowing its truth to wash over you. Allow it to be both benediction, and an opening prayer to what’s before you.

Spend a few moments listening again for His voice. Allow your voice to proclaim praise for His goodness and grace. .
