SeedOffering

Day 4

By SeedOffering

The Lord said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give. These are the offerings you are to receive from them: gold, silver and bronze; blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair; ram skins dyed red and another type of durable leather; acacia wood; olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece. Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them. Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.” (Exodus 25:1–9)

Moses received exact instructions from God on the building of the tabernacle, instructions with much detail, precision, and excellence. God’s request here indicates much of His character: the precious stones and materials indicate His greatness and transcendence. God’s desire to always be with His people is indicated by the portable nature of the tabernacle.

Today, you are the dwelling through which God makes Himself known. You are the tabernacle of God, one that He made with great detail in mind, much precision and excellence. When God created you, nothing was forgotten, left out, or still desired. There was no missing piece. You are exactly how God envisioned you to be. He made you, and when you accepted Christ as your Savior, He made His home in you.

Praise God for choosing you to be His dwelling place! Praise Him for His beautiful creativity in making you who you are. Ask God to give you the courage to live in a posture of believing that you are His prized possession. Pray for God to give you humility and patience to see His image in those around you, as well, and the courage to respond to life in love.

Day 3

By SeedOffering

3You will keep in perfect peace
    those whose minds are steadfast,
    because they trust in you.
4Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord, the Lord himself is the Rock eternal. (Isaiah 26:3–4)

Once more, God revealed the future to Isaiah. This chapter is a song of praise and thanksgiving for what was to come. Let us rejoice and praise God for the hope in which we live!

In a world of chaos, with a multitude of tasks swirling around us, it is more of our natural way to become consumed by what we can see. This leads us away from peace. Ask God to help you receive His peace, the peace which He is. In faith, express your trust in God to Him, and surrender your thoughts to Him. Praise God today that He can be trusted. Trust Him with today. Just stay here, in this day, in His peace. It’s a good day!

Day 2

By SeedOffering

10As the rain and the snow
    come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
    without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:10–11)

Isaiah declares the provision of God as he expresses his absolute dependability. All that God does and says is reliable and true. For the people of Israel, rain and snow were considered gifts of God, gifts from heaven to earth. The Israelites believed that God was pouring out blessing upon them each time it rained. The water gave nourishment to the earth, bringing life to humanity.

God’s Word itself is reliable and true. His Word is sown into the world, and it will not return to Him empty. It will accomplish His purpose. We are invited to partner with Him in spreading His Word—His seeds—wherever we go. Our invitation is just to faithfully sow those seeds. God’s role is to bring the rain and the sunlight and to produce the crops. Our role is just to sow.

How will you sow today? In whom will you sow His truth, knowing that His Word will not return void?

Day 1

By SeedOffering

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” (Zechariah 4:10)

Zerubbabel had laid the foundation for the temple to be rebuilt. Some of the Israelites saw this step as insignificant or even embarrassing. God did not. God rejoiced as the building began.

God is glorified in the small things. Small steps, simple acts of faith, small seeds. Dr. Dennis Kinlaw, former president of Asbury College, said, “God never does anything in a big way that He doesn’t first do in a small way.” How might God want to partner with you in something small today?

Pray that you’ll rejoice in the small things today. Ask God for a vision of the beauty of small things, taking the first step, initiating conversation, smiling, hugging, listening.
