Day 5

By October 28, 2018SeedOffering

Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” (John 12:23–24)

The death of Jesus was necessary. Atonement, salvation, and resurrection would not be possible without His death. His death was necessary to reap a harvest; His sacrifice would ultimately result in a harvest of eternal life. His death led to your awakening.

Our reality is clear. We too are called to give up our lives for those around us. While we know this truth, many are unpracticed in its ways. Count Zinzendorf said, “Many people will follow the Lord halfway, but not the other half. They will willingly give up possessions and property and wealth, but it touches them too deeply to disown themselves.”

Where is God asking you to relinquish control? Where is He asking you to abandon your need to have the last word? How is He calling you to surrender and submission and even death? Entrust Him with your questions, your uncertainty, and give Him the places where you are simply unable or unwilling to engage. Allow His life to be glorified in you today.
